How long does it take to brush? 1 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes? Duration and technique play a big part in our oral health so it’s important to know the proper way to brush your teeth.
Good oral hygiene is one of the most important steps in caring for your teeth. A regular oral hygiene routine consists of brushing at least twice a day two minutes at a time, (gently) flossing at least once a day, and ensuring you attend regular dental check-up visits.
Any good oral hygiene routine starts with a proper brushing technique. Below are some steps on how to do so.
Proper Brushing Technique
- The angle. The head of the toothbrush needs to be placed at a 45° angle against your gum line.
- Brush all surfaces. Brush the surfaces of each tooth next to your checks and tongue, top and bottom, sweeping the bristles away from your gum line.
- Is it clean? It is important to brush the chewing surfaces of the teeth as they trap plaque.
- Regular check-ups. Regular visits to your oral health professionals are the surest, safest way to keep your mouth as healthy as possible.
