Quyen Tran
Quyen was born and grew up in Melbourne. She went straight to the University of Melbourne after high school to complete the Bachelor of Oral Health in 2011.
Her passion for dentistry stems from the ability to make a difference. A patient’s fundamental understanding of oral health leads to overall health, and she feels a sense of accomplishment when patients are able to understand the basics of achieving optimum oral health.
Her first job at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne formed the basis of her experience in treating people with severe gum disease. She places the highest importance on prevention, as she believes it is the key to a lifetime of good dental health. As an Oral Health Therapist, she is an integral part of the dental team in preventing dental diseases and maintaining oral health.
During her time at Melbourne University, she traveled to New Zealand where she researched and compared Maori/New Zealand oral health with Aboriginal/Australian oral health. She was fortunate enough to experience the cultural differences between the two nations. This sparked her lifelong passion for education, which she continues to fulfill through professional development, teaching and mentoring.
In her spare time, she loves to bake, build Lego and boulder!
